Skewen 18 v Glynneath 6

In a top of the table encounter at Tennant Park between 2 unbeaten sides, Skewen outplayed Glynneath to post a notable victory and take them top. Glynneath scored almost from the kick off with a penalty, this was then matched by an Anthony Buselli penalty. Despite dominating in all phases Skewen could not score missing numerous penalty attempts. 3-3 at half time. Second half continued in a similar vein to the first with the Skewen forwards completely outplaying their opponents particularly in the scrum and at the breakdown. Despite this Glynneath proved extremely difficult to break down. Against the run of play Glynneath kicked a second penalty to take the lead. However eventually pressure told with a bulldozing try by Wayne Mitchel under the posts converted by Buselli. Skewen in the lead but Glynneath uncomfortably close. A second try by outstanding prop Reece Jenkins sealed the win for Skewen. The game finished with numerous attacks by Glynneath being thwarted by Skewen's stonewall defence.

Congratulations to all the players on a fine team effort against a very good Glynneath side. Also special mention must be given to our 2 coaches Richard and James who have moulded an extremely effective squad and despite losing key players at regular intervals have instilled a winning habit

Maesteg 21 - Skewen 15

Skewen's long unbeaten run finally came to an end in the Swalec Plate, losing to divison 2 leaders Maesteg in a close fought contest. This is a clear benchmark of our ability to compete at the higher level. Tries came from Simon Jeremy and Edward Price, both converted by Anthony Buselli. Whilst disappointing to lose, we are still top of the league, in the final of the district cup, in the semi-final of the west wales bowl, and in the quarter finals of the silver ball, all in all a very successful season to date.

Seven Sisters 0 - Skewen 26

Skewen extended their winning run with an impressive 26-0 success at Seven Sisters. In a hard fought first half Skewen were only 7-0 in the lead. In the second half Skewen went up a gear to cross for 3 further tries. Skewen tries were scored by Edward Price, James Ball, Richard Davies and Rees Jenkins with Anthony Buselli adding 3 conversions
